“Shaking It Up” Film Screening & Reception at the LBJ Library

Tuesday, May 21 ·6:30 pm

The LBJ Library and the Briscoe Center for American History co-hosted a screening before a capacity crowd at the perfect venue — the Library’s Lady Bird Johnson Auditorium — where Liz was a frequent on-stage presence.  Liz Carpenter was an iconic Texas and Austin figure and over 900 people turned out to remember and celebrate her life and her impact. Christy Carpenter kicked off the magical event, describing how this three-year effort came to be and the plans to roll out the film nationally.  Then the audience settled in to enjoy the film – laughing throughout and even tearing up at times.  Luci Johnson led the cheering and three-minute standing ovation that followed the film. The celebration continued at a reception in the Great Hall of the Library.
